PMZ比例調(diào)壓閥在液壓系統(tǒng)中以其可變的控制壓力和較少的油量控制著其它液壓元件（例如：換向閥）。 位于 A 接口的、符合電動(dòng)控制所調(diào)節(jié)的次級(jí)壓力不取決于初級(jí)回路中泵的現(xiàn)有壓力，PMZ比例調(diào)壓閥而在 A 接口的降低壓力與電流輸入信號(hào)之間存在線性關(guān)系。 PMZ比例調(diào)壓閥由于結(jié)構(gòu)所決定，現(xiàn)有的泄漏油流量必須通過(guò) R 接口無(wú)壓力地回流油箱。 例如當(dāng)次級(jí)壓力通過(guò)外力作用時(shí)上升超過(guò)設(shè)置值時(shí)，此種調(diào)壓閥具有過(guò)載平衡功能（起到溢流閥作用）。
